A Celebration of Science-Based Cinema from an African Diasporic Perspective

The AfroSci Film Festival has been postponed

The AfroSci Film Festival has been postponed.

Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on the public’s health and public events, we have decided to take this time to continue building our platform for STEM filmmakers of African descent and our film festival for a future date, as yet undetermined.

Although we were exploring online platforms as an alternative, we ultimately feel that our inaugural event should be an in-person event. AfroSci strongly believes in the value of the theater experience, face-to-face events, meet and greets with filmmakers and our sponsors. We are looking forward to bringing our community together sometime in 2021.

We would also like to take this time to sincerely thank all of our supporters in particular, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (Novella Ford, Kadiatou Tubman, M. Scott Johnson, Catherine Feliz), the filmmakers who submitted work for the festival, our board, the film enthusiasts who support AfroSci’s unique and groundbreaking mission.

Do stay in touch with us by visiting this website for updates on future programming, as well as our IG @afrosci.

Once again, thank you for your support and please take care of yourself and your loved ones and we will see you soon.
